The new Federal duck stamp for 2006-2007 is going to feature the Ross goose. For those that don't know, the Ross goose is named after Bernard R. Ross. The stamp will feature the work of Sherrie Russell Meline. It's quite a striking stamp. Sales for the 2006-2007 Federal Duck Stamp started on July 01, 2006.
According to a press release from the government, Sherrie Russell Meline is only the second woman in history to win the Federal Duck Stamp contest. Do yourself a favor and pick this stamp up. The imagery is outstanding and it's a fine addition to the Duck Stamp line. The stamp's line goes back 71 years. This year's version was the first time the stamp design was chosen outside of the Washington D.C. area.
Proceeds from the purchase of this stamp goes to fund waterfowl habitat acquisition for the National Wildlife Refuge System.
