Within 24 hours of the victory of the Serbian tennis national team over France in the the 2010 Davis Cup, Serbia released a special issue postal stamp featuring the members of the team: Novak Djokovic, Viktor Troicki, Nenad Zimonjic and Janko Tipsarevic.

Davis Cup Champs Honored on Serbian Stamps

Unlike the U.S. which does not depict living persons on its stamps, other countries often issue postage stamps of their sports heroes. Russia, Australia and other countries have previously issued postal stamps honoring their Davis Cup winners, but the Post of Serbia is the first postal administration in the world which managed - within 24 hours upon the finals finished - to release such a special issue.

The issue circulation is 38,000 stamps, printed in sheets of eight pieces with a vignette in the middle of it, picturing the well-known “salad bowl”, the trophy which is awarded to the winner of the most prestigious men’s team championship.

The stamp creator was Jakša J. Vlahovic. The stamps were printed in the Institute for Manufacturing Banknotes and Coins in Belgrade, by multicolor offset printing. The stamps will be distributed to the counters of all major post offices, with the date of issue 6 December 2010. This date is also shown on the "first day" special postmarks.
